Dr. Evan Tirado brings over 15 years of experience in the optical field and has developed a strong clinical focus in low vision rehabilitation and complex visual conditions. He earned his Doctorate of Optometry from the New England College of Optometry, where he was recognized with multiple academic honors and inducted into the Beta Sigma Kappa International Optometric Honor Society. During his training, he served on the executive council of the American Optometric Student Association, advocating for policies that support patient care and protect access to vision services nationwide.
A Focus on Low Vision & Rehabilitation
Dr. Tirado is a Fellow of the International Association of Low Vision Specialists and the founder of Northeast Low Vision. He works with patients who are experiencing permanent vision loss due to conditions such as:
- Macular degeneration
- Diabetic retinopathy
- Glaucoma Retinitis pigmentosa
- Albinism
- Brain injury and stroke-related vision changes
His approach is centered on one question: “What do you need to see again?” Whether that means reading, recognizing faces, watching television, cooking safely, or returning to hobbies, Dr. Tirado takes time to understand each patient’s visual goals before developing a customized plan.
Advanced Clinical Training
Dr. Tirado completed extensive clinical rotations in primary care, binocular vision, and vision rehabilitation. He also received specialized training in ocular disease at Bascom Palmer Eye Institute in Miami, one of the most respected eye hospitals in the country. He combines that training with practical, real-world solutions — including custom optical devices, magnification systems, adaptive technology, and modern visual aids designed to restore independence and confidence.
A Patient-Centered Philosophy
Vision loss can feel overwhelming. Dr. Tirado believes that patients deserve both technical expertise and patience. He works closely with individuals and families to create realistic, empowering solutions that improve daily function and quality of life.
Outside the Office
When he’s not caring for patients, Dr. Tirado enjoys spending time with his wife and young daughter.
